FOXO1 FOXO1-PAX3 FUS Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma BET inhibitors V 1
Evidence region

Patient Criteria

Note

5 PAX3-FOXO1 fusion positive rhabdomyosarcoma cell lines exhibited greater sensitivity to BET bromodomain inhibitors than fusion negative lines and introduction of the PAX3-FOXO1 fusion to fibroblasts was sufficient to drive an 11 fold increase in sensitivity. The BET inhibitor JQ1 was efficacious in a PAX3-FOXO1 xenograft model.

Gene name

FOXO1

Full name

forkhead box O1

Gene type

protein-coding

Function

This gene belongs to the forkhead family of transcription factors which are characterized by a distinct forkhead domain. The specific function of this gene has not yet been determined; however, it may play a role in myogenic growth and differentiation. Translocation of this gene with PAX3 has been associated with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
